2020 iMac users suffering from Radeon Pro 5700 XT GPU display issues

Some 2020 27″ iMac users are reportedly experiencing issues with their display due to the AMD 5700 XT GPU, included with the highest-end configuration offered by Apple.

The display will show lines across it at random points, according to one user, who reported the problem on Apple’s Support forums. It’s not clear if the issue occurs during high-intensive tasks or just randomly, but it seems like the latter. One user added that it ‘appeared during the initial Mac setup and keeps flashing randomly since then’.

It’s likely a driver issue with the AMD 5700 XT GPU, which means Apple will likely roll out a fix in the coming weeks to rectify it. However, it will only affect the small number of users that have purchased the high-end 2020 iMac.
