Apple has shipped 7.5 million face shields to healthcare workers worldwide

Apple has revealed that it’s shipped 7.5 million face shields to medical workers and healthcare professionals globally.

The company’s CEO, Tim Cook, announced the figure in Thursday’s earnings call. It comes after Apple asked its suppliers and engineer partners to make face shields in early April.

Cook also said that the COVID-19 screening app, developed by Apple, has been downloaded more than 2 million times and that the website has been visited by more than 3 million people. Apple released a COVID-19 app in partnership with the CDC and FEMA in late March.

The tech giant has also sourced and donated over 20 million N95 masks to healthcare workers around the globe and donated millions of dollars to numerous sources in different countries.
