Apple Arcade

Apple launched Arcade, its subscription-gaming service, in September 2019, providing access to hundreds of games with no adverts or in-app purchases for one monthly fee.

How much?

Apple Arcade costs $4.99 a month but comes with a one-month free trial. An annual, one-year subscription is also available for $49.99 each year, saving users $9.89 on the monthly price.

Does it work on any Apple device?

Most devices, yes. Apple Arcade games can be played on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Apple TV and support Family Sharing, allowing up to six family members to access the games for the same $4.99 a month. Arcade games also support PS4 DualShock and Xbox One controllers* along with Made For iPhone game controllers.

Where is the Arcade app?

There is no standalone Apple Arcade app but rather a section in the App Store labelled ‘Arcade’. After you subscribe, this gives you access to the 114 (approx) games available where you can install them and open the respective app on your device’s home screen.

Are there adverts?

No additional in-app purchases are required to unlock content and each game is free from adverts. The price includes future updates and game content, and no adverts guarantee privacy and no tracking, even by the developers.

Can I download the games elsewhere?

Apple Arcade games are developed exclusively by third-parties for the subscription service and won’t be available as a one-time purchase in the App Store or Google Play Store. However, some games may be on console or PC.
