Apple releases macOS Big Sur Beta 8 to Developers

Coming in at around 2.3 gigabytes, Apple had released their 8th build of macOS Big Sur to developers. According to the release notes, there’s only one new change mentioned: An issue with the kernel no longer causes applications to quit unexpectedly.

With Big Sur Beta 7, we missed one new addition: Safari includes new default background options for the Start Page, which are shown below.

This update comes just 5 days after Big Sur beta 7. While the latest versions of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS released on September 16th to the public, we’re still waiting on the macOS Big Sur public release and no release date has been announced yet.

macOS Big Sur comes with a revamped UI with more transparency, a control center, completely revamped Safari, and some great features from iOS: automatic device switching with AirPods, guides and cycling routes in Maps, and a Messages app revamp.
