Apple releases new Metal Developer Tools for Windows 10

Late last week, Apple released new Metal Developer tools for users on Windows 10. This will allow developers on the Microsoft operating system to develop games for Apple devices easily.

The new tools were released at WWDC earlier this year. They enable Metal Shading Language compilation and means that developers can use PCs to produce games for the Mac and other Apple devices.

Whilst it will still not be possible to develop apps for an iPhone, iPad or Mac on Windows 10, due to the need for a Mac to sign and test software, this is a move that is significant in many ways and a head in the right direction.

Metal Developer Tools for Windows are a collection of Windows-hosted tools, headers and libraries that enable developers using Windows machines to build their Metal shader programs/assets for deployment on iOS, tvOS and macOS.
