Apple’s Head of Diversity and Inclusion leaves

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s head of diversity and inclusion, Christie Smith, has left after a planned exit earlier on this year. Smith reported to Apple’s VP of Retail and People, Deirdre O’Brien.

“Christie Smith will be leaving Apple to spend more time with her family and we wish her well. Our Inclusion and Diversity team continues to report directly to Deirdre O’Brien on the Executive Team.”

According to Apple, the exit was planned for a few months ago, but was likely delayed due to the pandemic. Christie left on Tuesday 16th June. Bloomberg says that her LinkedIn status has been updated reflects the change in job.

Smith joined Apple in 2017, taking over the role of Denise Young Smith who lasted for only half a year, leaving after making controversial comments.
