UPDATED: Apple’s Online Store shows new “iPhone SE” products

UPDATE: Apple has now removed the mentions of ‘iPhone SE’ from the online listings. It could just be an accident, and the original date of April 15th could still be correct.

First spotted by (once again) reputable leaker Jon Prosser– Apple’s Online Store now shows 2 new products related to the new iPhone SE 2/iPhone 9:

  • Belkin InvisiGlass Ultra Screen Protection for iPhone SE / 8 / 7
  • AppleCare+ for iPhone SE

It’s important to note that the new “iPhone SE” is the same size as the iPhone 7 and 8, so the screen protector couldn’t be for the old iPhone SE. In addition, Apple no longer sells the iPhone SE, so the only reason this would appear on the store is for a new iPhone model.

Until now, there’s been much speculation about what the new budget iPhone will be called: iPhone 9, iPhone SE 2, among some others. It seems like they might be going the same way as the budget iPad models for the name: iPhone SE (2nd generation).

The new iPhone will have a 4.7-inch screen and potentially a Plus-sized model, with an appearance similar to the iPhone 8 and earlier: home buttons, no Face ID, etc, but with a faster processor to match those of the iPhone 11 series of devices.

iPhone 8, which will likely be a similar design to the upcoming iPhone SE 2

The cheapest iPhone currently starts at $449, but almost all rumors/leaks have suggested that this model will have a $399 price tag. It’ll be a great option for people looking for a more affordable iPhone, or those who want the speed and performance of a new iPhone, but with the classic design.

This device was supposed to come last month, but due to COVID-19, it was delayed. We should expect to see the new device launched this month.
