First ARM-Based Mac Expected in Q4 2020

Renowned Apple analyst and leaker, Ming-Chi Kuo has accelerated his timeline on the launch date of the heavily rumoured new MacBook that will be Apple’s first Mac to be based on ARM chips made in-house by Apple. He says that we could expect Apple to unveil the new ARM-based Mac by the end of this year, with a shipment date of Q4 2020 to Q1 2021.

This new MacBook will be the first Mac laptop to be based on the ARM architecture, with Apple expected to switch their entire notebook line from Intel chips to Apple’s in-house ARM chips, one by one. Developers will have to recompile their apps to support the new architecture, as the current versions don’t support the ARM architecture, a problem faced by the Microsoft Surface Pro X as well.
