Garmin Surrenders to Hackers, Loses Millions

Since the morning of July 23, many of Garmin’s services suddenly went down. Customers were frustrated, officials of the company did not know what was happening. But a few days later, they confirmed that those issues were the result of a cyberattack.

Interestingly, the hacker(s) asked for 10 million in ransom! Which the company reportedly gave. The company and a few sources suspect “Evil Corp.” a cybercriminal organization from Russia, being involved in some way. Several cybersecurity officials believe that the WastedLocker ransomware was used in this attack.

The hacker(s) is/are supposedly from Evil Corp., a Russian cybercriminal organization.

Indeed, this event carries a message and alert for organizations and people around the world, cyberattacks are on the rise, and we all need to stay alarmed.
