Instagram app for Apple Watch, Lens, gains standalone in-app purchases

Lens, available for Apple Watch, allows you to experience Instagram on your wrist, with the ability to view your feed, like posts, comment and more. Now, Lens has become the first app to make it possible to buy in-app purchases directly from your Watch.

In-app purchases start from $1.99 and unlock ‘Pro’ features. There is also the ability to directly tip the developer (Ruben Catchpole), too.

It comes after Apple added support for standalone in-app purchases with watchOS 6.3 and iOS 13.4, released days ago. Although it’s up to the app developer to add this function, it’s a move that will likely make Apple Watch even more independent and separate from the iPhone.

Lens can be downloaded for free, with the optional in-app purchases, from the App Store.
