Instagram rolls out batch comment deletion, pinning comments and tagging controls

Instagram is releasing new features to its iOS app that will allow you to better control your experience on the platform and reduce negativity in posts. More controls over comments will include the ability to pin some and batch delete.

To batch delete up to 25 comments, you need to tap the … icon in the right corner. Choose Manage Comments and select some, then tap Delete. Alternatively, you can block or restrict those accounts from seeing your content by tapping More Options. Restricting someone will prevent them from commenting without your permission and messaging you directly.

The company is testing the ability to pin comments to the top. The feature will “give people a way to set the tone for their account” and let people better engage with selected people who’s comments are pinned. It could also be a better way for entertainment accounts to promote other people.

Soon, we’ll begin testing Pinned Comments. This feature gives people a way to set the tone for their account and engage with their community by pinning a select number of comments to the top of their comments thread.

Finally, Instagram is making it easier to manage who can tag you in their posts. New options include Everyone (people you follow and don’t follow), people you follow or no one.

Instagram is a free download from the App Store, and these features are currently rolling out.
