Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 12 lineup in September, as they usually do, but there could be delays on the release of the devices. Now, in a new video, reliable leaker Jon Prosser is suggesting that Apple is nearing the end of the prototyping phase and on track to begin mass producing.
Firstly, he says that the production of iPhone 12 models is scheduled for May 2020 and that, “instead of a typical September launch” we can “be looking at… October, late October, November”. Executives are yet to finalise a design for the lineup, but are likely to do so in the coming weeks. We can expect a CAD leak, similar to last year’s iPhone 11 images in January, in the next two months.
The iPhone 12 will be available in 5.4″ and 6.1″ variants, with likely identical specs, which include two cameras, similar to the iPhone 11, an A14 processor and 5G support. The iPhone 12 Pro will feature the same basic specifications, but in 6.1″ and 6.7″ models, with 3 cameras and a LiDAR sensor. All devices will be getting a smaller notch, likely the same size on each, as Apple wants to keep all symmetrical.
His leaks also confirm earlier rumours from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who mentioned these display sizes last year. It’s also suggested that all devices will feature an OLED screen and redesigned body, but no evidence has emerged that confirms this.
New image confirms LiDAR sensor on 2020 iPhone
An image of the iPhone 12 Pro with three cameras and a LiDAR sensor has also been leaked by Concepts iPhone, last week, obtained from iOS 14 source code. It confirms that the high-end devices will be getting the sensor that’s on the 2020 iPad Pro, and that Apple has re-arranged the camera module to fit the new sensor.
The flash has been moved to the middle and the third lens moved up. The LiDAR sensor will provide improved augmented reality features, similar to that on the new iPad Pro.
