After months of speculation, dozens of leaks and numerous rumours, Apple has officially announced their new budget iPhone: the second-generation iPhone SE. Starting at $399, it’s available in Black, White and Product RED, with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage tiers.
The second-gen iPhone SE borrows the design from the iPhone 8 and XR. It has a traditional, glass-back design with home button and Touch ID, which supports Apple Pay transactions and NFC. The 4.7-inch display has True Tone, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, with Haptic Touch built right in.
Apple has also replaced the A9 chip in the previous model with the A13 Bionic (from the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro). The camera, a single 12MP wide lens, works with Depth Control and Portrait Mode on people, and Smart HDR allows you to get more natural looking images. 4K video at 60fps is also possible, and the revamped Camera app from the iPhone 11 adds features like Quick Take. The front camera is a mere 7MP with support for Portrait Selfies.
The iPhone SE is also wireless-charging and fast-charging compatible, and lasts up to 13 hours. It ships with iOS 13.4 and has support Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit LTE. You can pre-order the iPhone SE from 17th April.
