Jon Prosser, an Apple leaker with an 85.5% accuracy, confirms Apple is planning a November event for Apple silicon Macs. He says the current date internally is November 17th, while an announcement for the event would likely occur on November 10th. Both of these dates are Tuesdays.
So far, there’s been 3 Apple Events this year, 2 of which have occurred in the past 2 months. Earlier this year, at Apple’s first online-only WWDC, they announced the transition from Intel processors to in-house Apple Silicon processors. During the event, they stated the first Apple Silicon Mac would arrive by the end of the year, starting a 2-year transition period.
During WWDC, Apple also launched a “Universal App Quick Start Program,” which provides access to documentation, forums support, beta versions of macOS Big Sur and Xcode 12, and includes the limited use of a DTK, which will enable developers to build and test their Universal 2 apps. The DTK, which must be returned to Apple at the end of the program, consists of a Mac mini with Apple’s A12Z Bionic SoC inside and desktop specs, including 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, and a variety of Mac I/O ports. The program costs $500, and as mentioned, must be returned to Apple at the end of the program. The DTK Mac mini is made available solely for developing apps with Apple Silicon.
