[U: Shutting Down] Quibi comes to Apple TV and other Smart TVs

Update: We can confirm that this app will no longer function after it’s been reported that Quibi will shut down after failing to attract a solid user base. More information soon.

The reportedly-failing streaming service Quibi has finally launched an app for TVs. After failing to launch with even a screencasting option when its mobile app launched in April, Quibi is now available as standalone apps on Apple TV, Fire TV, and Android TV.

With approximately $2 billion invested in the company, the company touted itself as an innovative streaming service for people on the go– Quibi means “quick bites.” The service expected to reach 7 million subscribers in one year but instead is estimated to have between 400-500k subscribers.

Quibi is available on the App Store and Google Play Store. The company offers a $4.99 ad-supported plan, with a short ad playing before the show, and a $7.99 ad-free plan. T-Mobile also offers Quibi On Us for their Magenta plans, however, you have to choose between Quibi or Netflix.

Some of Quibi’s shows include The Stranger, Survive, Wireless, Die Hart, Most Dangerous Game, and a reboot of Reno 911! and Punk’d.
