Tim Cook: WWDC 2020 had over 22 million viewers

At Apple’s Q3 earning call on Thursday, Tim Cook announced that the virtual Worldwide Developers Conference had over twenty two million viewers.

The conference, which is usually held live at the San Jose Convention Center in early June, was reimagined due to safety concerns over the coronavirus. It was pre-recorded with drone segments, keynote-like presentations and completely different scenery.

Cook said that this figure was “across all of Apple’s streams”: “22 million viewers across all of Apple’s streams. More than 72 hours of video content for developers — three full days. 4,500 person-to-person labs”.

Apple announced major new software updates, including iOS 14, with the App Library and home screen widgets, macOS Big Sur with a full redesign, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14.
