Twitter begins testing ‘Fleets’ stories feature in Italy

Twitter has begun testing its new Instagram Stories competitor, Fleets, with users in Italy. It comes after the original announcement which launched the feature in Brazil, and made users tweet more frequently.

Fleets, similar to Stories on Facebook and Instagram, lets you post a tweet that will automatically delete after 24 hours of posting it. Currently, whilst it’s possible to schedule tweets, you cannot set a tweet to remove itself after a set period of time. You’ll also be able to share photos, text and videos on a Fleet.

It’s certainly much more basic than Instagram’s take, with no drawing or stickers. This approach will keep the Fleets platform simple and won’t stray too far from the ‘tweet’ part of the platform.

It’s not known if Twitter will expand testing to other countries, but it’s looking likely.
