Apple launches worldwide AirPods Pro Service Program for ANC/Crackling issues

Got AirPods Pro with crackling sounds or noise cancellation issues, but no AppleCare? You’re in luck, Apple has announced a Service Program for AirPods Pro users which’ll get your pair (or just the right or left) replaced for free if you are facing any of the above mentioned issues.

It has been months of users complaining about these issues with their AirPods Pros and Apple has finally taken action. According to Apple, the issues could be:

  • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
  • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

TL; DR: Apple will replace your AirPods Pro (not the charging case) for free if you are facing issues like crackling sounds or noise cancellation issues. Keep in mind that your AirPods Pro will be examined before being replaced. Also, again, it is just for AirPods Pro and not any other models.

Apple also mentions that the affected AirPods Pro units were manufactured before October 2020, and, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service the affected AirPods Pro (left, right or both), free of charge. Plus, no other AirPods models are a part of this program and this program doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the AirPods Pro.

You’ll be getting your AirPods Pros replaced, not the charging case in this Service Program.

Here’s the Service Process from Apple:

Choose one of the service options below to have your AirPods Pro serviced. Your AirPods Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that they are eligible for this program. AirPods Pro (left, right or both) with a confirmed issue will be replaced. The AirPods Pro case is not affected and will not be replaced.
