Lightning port found in Apple TV 4K for diagnostic use

Although the Apple TV 4K has been available for nearly two years, a key feature that could allow for additional expansion on the firmware-side has been found this week by a Twitter use, going by the name Kevin Bradley.

When looking closely at the I/O of the Apple TV, a Lightning port has been spotted at the top of the Ethernet port, inside. However, it’s proving difficult to get any capability out of it as there is likely an additional device or some Mac software that can unlock it. The port is probably for Apple’s debugging and diagnostics.

If the port does become unlocked, it could make way for new jailbreaking methods, but there’s no confirmation on this just yet. We’ll update you if the lightning port becomes unlocked and can be used in the public domain.
